I really liked the fact that, unlike every version of this I ever played, this version's board is a torus. That completely changed the way I play these things. There is a sarcastic, yet incredibly helpful, tutorial on putting in highscores and achievements, made by KoG. That would be a good place to check out, since you've asked for help on that. Keep up the good work.

the smallest score you can lose with is 35, otherwise you're too short to die. xD
