Players love to compete, and we want to encourage that with a simple yet powerful API for highscores and rankings. You set up everything on your game management page, and you integrate the API into your flash game to get access to functions for submitting scores.

Highscores

Highscore lists simply show who got the best score. Players can view weekly or monthly or all-time scores, and they can easily see how their friends are doing in the game. Every time your game submits a score, the player gets a new entry in the highscore list.

If you made a racing game, you might have highscores for “best laptime”, “top speed”, “worst laptime” or “crashes”. For each list you get to decide the name of it, how it is displayed, as time or as a number, and what the objective is, to get as high a score as possible or as low a score as possible.

Rankings

On a ranking list, or leaderboard, each player has a single score that can move up or down depending on his or her performance. If you submit positive values, the score goes up for the player, and if you submit negative values, the score goes down. This score is then the basis for the player's position, the one with the highest score is #1 on the ranking list, the one with the second highest is #2 and so on.

If you make a shooting game, you could have ranking lists for “total kills”, “enemies hit”, or even better “kill/death ratio”. If you make a poker game you could let the ranking score represent “chips”. Whenever someone makes a bet you decrease the score, and whenever someone wins you increase the score. The ranking list would then show which player has the largest stack.

No limits

You can set up as many highscore and ranking lists for your game as you want, and even mix and match them as you please. A racing game might have a highscore list for “best laptime”, and a ranking list for ”races won”.

Allow players to compete!

It's fun to play, but it's even more fun to compete. Players can always view the highscore and rankings the way they want to, either all-time champions, or just a list with their friends.
