2.Needs highscores (killing streak, most kills in one round, and total wins).
3. Needs power-ups and health to have a good score in killing streak.
4. Team play (could work with something like 4 colors, 4 teams, it also depends on how many players fit in one room).

13 days ago | Post #8I think adding objects like planets, comets, black holes, etc. would make it interesting. Also computer controlled ships would be fun to have, either for teams to fight against or just to keep the game interesting.
Also, let the space bar make you respawn. I find it annoying to have to click, because sometimes I get killed right as I'm transitioning back to the arrow keys.

12 days ago | Post #11 | in reply to #8There's just one small flaw with having the spacebar as a respawn button. Whenever you press it in the little chat window you would suddenly find yourself hanging there in space. I prefer it as a click mechanism, at least THAT way there is no real inadvertant way you could end up in the battlefield again.
As far as general feedback goes, the wide open area DOES work, however, I'm not sure the markers pointing out where each and every player is is a good thing. I can see why they're there, a player doesn't want to spend 10 minutes searching for the one other person in the arena, however, I find it a lot less fun with it there. There's no element of surprise. I could see it working a lot better as a powerup, if you're planning to include them, but to have it there all the time doesn't appeal to me. This is just a me thing at the moment mind, I'd be interested to hear other views on it.
The second issue I have with the game is the speed of your ship. It's just too slow! If you were, say, 130-150% faster there would also be even less need for the pointing markers because you wouldn't trundle along at a nice steady pace through space.
Thirdly
Team play=fair enough. I see the appeal for others, I'm apathetic towards it myself
Asteroids/any other form of obstacle=NO PLEASE NO. Keep the ingame threats purely at the skill of your opponents please
Oh and I like the explosion when you kill someone. Very pretty =D

12 days ago | Post #13 | in reply to #11Well, okay, so I understand your concern about using the spacebar for respawning. I was just picking any old key. It has happened to me several times where I go to click respawn and then move my hand to the arrow keys, and by that time I'm already killed. Make the respawn key something else then, say, what about the ctrl key?
For now, I like the navigation arrows, I think for right now they are great, but here is an idea. I know that Chris right now is implementing the skill system, but here is a thought. What about adding other fixed objects in the area as an alternative to the navigation arrows (like planets, suns, moons, etc.). It doesn't give away where opponents are located, and yet it gives you some sort of idea where you have been, and where you are going.
As for game speed, I think it's fine for where it's at. Three fourths of the time whenever I encounter an opponent, I only see him for a couple seconds, and then he is off the screen. If I would kill him or he would kill me, it's not even in my viewing area. Yes, the navigation system might be partly to blame for this, but if you take that away, battles will still be at longer distances, and people will just make judgments off of where their opponent's bullets are coming from.
I like the team play idea. Either players vs. computer or players vs. players.

11 days ago | Post #15I think you should have levels based on number of kills because levels just makes the game more interesting because it makes you want to have a higher level and you just keep playing.

Another alternative to the navigation arrows would be some type of map in which locates nearby players and other objects in the field.

10 days ago | Post #20 | in reply to #13I liked the fixed object idea, though I can't decide whether it should be a game object (a planet) that you have to avoid or just something in the background that you fly over. If it was a planet, should the planets have a smallish gravity well that affects your ship's flight?
I'd really like some asteroids. Not small, fast-moving ship destroyers, just some largish, slow-moving obstacles. If you bump into them, you take some damage. Of course, then you have to wonder about what happens in asteroid-asteroid collisions and asteroid-planet collisions.
