comercialising nonoba is ok, but forcing people to buy is not.

this is what happens

bob is looking for a game to play (-_-) <(I'm bored)

bob finds a game and likes it (_) <(Yay! This is fun!)

bob eventually gets addicted (@_@) <(...must win... have to beat... level 93...)

bob reaches lvl 93 and passes (O.O) <(...i did it)

he reaches level 100 (o_o) <(only 3900 to go now...)

*by this time you will realise that he is well and truely hooked

lvl 100... has a message... (0.0)?

(ToT) <(i dont have $24.99 to continue!)

bob is sad...

very sad...

i don't understand this knee jerk reaction. it's not a mandatory requirement that games now have cost, it's an option that is up to developers. developers will have to be smart and listen to their users and only charge what is appropriate. if they don't it hurts them more than any momentary monetary gain will help.

there are still going to be plenty of developers who feel that it's better to give their game for free.

there will be a smaller amount who feel that the should charge for value added content.

there will be even less who think they can get away with charging for their entire game. those will have to have some damn good games for their business model to work, in which case it would be worth it to reward them for their work.

What? Where would you get such a ridiculous notion?

Tell, me, all of you who are complaining about how us developers are now going to start gouging prices and charging you for what should be free, can you point to a single game that does this? (Chris's fireworks game does not count since that is an example game rather than a real game to itself)

What I don't think any of you seem to realize is that we developers are people just the same as you are. We're not the money-hungry fiends you portray us to be.

What's more, we're game-players ourselves and have pretty good ideas about what is worthy of being paid for and what isn't. Yes, that's right, we're JUST LIKE YOU.

I don't believe in level capping. But if someone chooses to negate some features of THEIR GAME then that is their choice. If it is indeed capped to a certain point then it should be duly noted for the player either before or at the start of the game that it is so.

People gotta make money somehow. Stop whining over having to pay a couple bucks to play games. If you don't like it, play one of the 4 billion games that are totally free.

then you don't even have the option to spend money you don't need to on games, sounds like a win win situation.
