Watch your shield level and your heat. If you lose all your shields, the game is over. If you overheat your laser and shield will not work.
Try to avoid damage, each hit stands a 50% chance of diminishing the performance of your ship. At each level clearing you have a 50% change or repairing or improving ship performance.
